Regarding today's events in the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, the Supreme Public Prosecution Office strongly condemns any behavior that endangers the physical safety of the members of parliament, their injury or endangering of their lives, regardless from whom such behavior comes, including the members of parliament themselves.
The Supreme Public Prosecution Office recalls that although members of parliament enjoy immunity from criminal prosecution for expressing an opinion or voting in the performance of their parliamentary duties, this does not protect them from criminal prosecution for criminal offenses committed in accordance with the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Serbia.
The Supreme Public Prosecution Office calls for the immediate calming of the situation in the National Assembly by refraining from taking any action that may endanger the safety, body or life of anyone working in the premises of the National Assembly, and especially the members of parliament.
