Supreme Public Prosecutor Zagorka Dolovac reiterates the invitation she sent two days ago, on 25th December 2024, to the representatives of the students’ protest to hold a meeting without delay with her and the public prosecutors of the Supreme Public Prosecution Office to for the purpose of discussion and providing information on the three requests submitted to the Public Prosecution Office.

The Supreme Public Prosecutor and the Supreme Public Prosecution Office were fully prepared to immediately receive the students’ delegation and, together with them, directly consider all requests, and provide all documentation available to the Prosecution Office regarding the collapse of the canopy of the Novi Sad Railway Station building, which as a consequence had the tragic death of 15 people.

Also, during the proposed meeting, students would be informed about all proceedings being conducted against individuals who attacked students or professors from all faculties during the protests, as well as the fact that not a single student or professor is being held in custody or detained for participating in the protests. It would also be presented how all cases conducted before public prosecution offices will be reviewed and, in the absence of evidence, criminal proceedings will be discontinued.

If this meeting does not take place soon, the Public Prosecution Office will in any case, after the completion of the investigation and the filing of the indictment, make available to the public all information and evidence at the disposal of the Higher Public Prosecution Office in Novi Sad in the case of the canopy collapse, which, due to the nature of the criminal proceedings and the work of the Public Prosecution Office, are more complete and comprehensive than individual information that are at the disposal of other state authorities, institutions and companies.

The above-mentioned complete documentation, in addition to the already published, also includes the construction diaries of the main contractor and subcontractors on the works, documentation on the inspection supervision of the Railway station in Novi Sad, including orders for action on the minutes of regular and extraordinary inspection supervision, communication between the Ministry of Transport, Construction and Infrastructure and the public enterprise Infrastructure of Serbian Railways, the minutes of the handover of the works for the lobby of wing B, the expert supervision report on the review of the project documentation, the project of construction, reconstruction and adaptation of the reinforcement and steel structure, as well as all other information and evidence contained within the evidentiary documentation of the investigation conducted.

Supreme Public Prosecutor Zagorka Dolovac is ready to meet with representatives of the students’ protest at any time and to present in a conversation with them all responses to the students’ requests with detailed explanations, and thereby to fully  positivelly respond to the requests of the students of our country.
